Day 1 "The Start" - Halifax to Moncton

The rain finally stopped over night and we woke to a bright but chilly and blustery day.
First job of the day is always to repack the car! This normally leads to a lot of huffing and puffing as however hard we try to keep our clothing and bits to a minimum the bags always weigh heavier than you would like and trying to squeeze them into a very small space behind the seats of the Porsche is alway a challenge!

Feed and watered and the car all packed up we made our way to the start line at the Halifax Citadel, five minutes drive from the hotel, quite a few locals had gathered on the hill to see us off and the Town crier of Halifax waved the Canadian maple leaf flag as we drove away from the start line.

As well as competing as individual crews you are encouraged to join fellow competitors to create teams so we have done that and now find ourselves in three other teams....

To Porsche to Push - cars 12 16 & 25
FTOTB - cars 12,24 & 25 (first towel on the beach!) all are German cars.
Burma Veterans - cars 25,27 & 17

The day continued to be bright and sunny and the temperature climbed a little as the day went on.
Wonderful scenery as we left Halifax with all the signs of early summer - trees in full leaf with vibrant fresh colours and the smell of freshly mown grass - Sunday morning and every where people were out tending their gardens.

Our first regularity section of the trip took us to a little circuit some where near the Mooseland road and Shubenacadie - a tight 2.4 kms circuit which gave all competitors the chance to get into the swing of the days to come and also make final adjustments to calibration should it be necessary! We were not best pleased with our performance and coming in at 7 seconds fast we knew some adjustment was required in car 25! We then made our way on towards New Brunswick taking in another circuit
"Atlantic Motorsport Park" to complete another two tests, one speed test and one regularity - again we were a little disappointed with both parts of the test but hopefully have not set ourselves too far back to make amends tomorrow! - as someone told me earlier today, it's a little like a game of golf! Just when you think you have mastered it, it bites your bum an disappears again.
Hay Hoo - tomorrow's another day, and the trip is so much more than just a rally.

We arrived at our hotel in Moncton The Crown Plaza to find we were sharing the hotel with the English ladies football team who were in town to compete in round one of the World Cup.
